Surplus Roofing Materials

We carry Surplus roofing material, which is usually inexpensive for a few key reasons: ✅ Overproduction and Overstock Manufacturers and distributors often produce or order more material than ultimately sells. For example, a supplier might anticipate higher demand for a certain shingle color or style, but if it doesn’t move as expected, they’re left with excess inventory. To clear valuable warehouse space, they’ll sell it off cheaply. ✅ Discontinued Products or Colors Roofing lines frequently change. If a manufacturer retires a product line, color, or packaging, any leftover inventory becomes surplus. Because it doesn’t match the new catalog, it has to be discounted steeply to get rid of it. ✅ Project Cancellations or Returns Big commercial jobs sometimes get delayed, canceled, or revised after materials have already shipped. Those returns can’t always go back into regular inventory—especially if the wrapping is damaged—so they’re marked down as surplus. ✅ Short Shelf Life or Warranty Start Date Some roofing materials (e.g., certain adhesives, underlayments, or modified bitumen rolls) have a limited shelf life or warranty period. Even though they’re still usable, suppliers want them gone before the clock runs out. ✅ Imperfect or Reclaimed Material Sometimes surplus includes seconds—products with minor cosmetic defects—or reclaimed/leftover material from large jobs. These can’t be sold as first-quality, so they get a discount. ✅ Liquidation or Closeout Situations When a contractor, distributor, or retailer goes out of business, all their stock is liquidated fast—often at pennies on the dollar. In other words, surplus is inexpensive not because it’s necessarily low quality, but because suppliers are highly motivated to clear it out and recoup any cash rather than pay for continued storage.
